Introduction

Broad-based Admission Programmes

The Faculty of Social Sciences consists of seven departments, Education Studies, Geography, Government & International Studies, History, Physical Education, Sociology and Social Work with a total of 12 UGC-funded undergraduate programmes in various disciplines.

With the implementation of four-year university curriculum structure in 2012, the Faculty has introduced the broad-based admission for four undergraduate programmes namely Geography, Government & International Studies, History and Sociology .

Under the new admission practice, students will be provided with a broad-based social sciences training in their first year with no specific Major. Upon the completion of the first year of study, students will apply for one of the four Majors as their Major and enrol on the specified Bachelor of Arts (Hons)/ Bachelor of Social Sciences (Hons) programme based on individual interest and academic performance.
