Q: What should I do if I cannot enroll on the required PE course(s) during Pre-registration or Add/Drop period?

A: Students can enroll on PE course(s) and fulfil the programme requirement during summer term.



Q: What should I do if the quotas of Year 1 "Suggested Elective" courses are full?

A: Students should contact the offering Department(s) for quota addition, if appropriate.



Q: If I did not take the introductory course of the Major Programme suggested in Year 1, what should I do?

A: As the suggested introductory courses are also Major required course and pre-requisite of some advanced level courses, it is strongly advised that students should take the introductory courses in Year 1. If students did not take the introductory course in Year 1, they should enroll on the course in Year 2 as early as possible.



Q: What is the difference between "Major Electives" and "Electives"?

A: "Major Electives" are elective courses related to and counted in your Major study, while "Electives" are courses for students to pursuit freely according to their personal interests.



Q: Can I enroll on more than 16 units per semester as scheduled in Year 1?

A: Yes, student can enroll on units up to 18 units per semester as a normal study load. However, students who wish to take more than 18 units in a semester must obtain approval from the Programme Coordinator and the Academic Registrar. The application form ‘Application for Excess Study Load for 4-Year Curriculum Students (REG003A)’ is available from the AR homepage. Upon completion of the form, please pass it to the Academic Registry for processing. Students who wish to take more than 21 units per semester must apply in writing to the Academic Registrar, after obtaining support from the Programme Coordinator.

Q: Is there a quota for each Major?

A: Yes, there is a cap for each Major. Details will be announced in the Major Application Briefing each year.



Q: Can I appeal for my Major assignment result?

A: Yes, student can appeal for the Major assignment result according to the regulation and timeline announced in the Major Application Briefing each year.
