Department of Education Studies formalises collaboration with Hiroshima University’s Graduate School of Education
Exploring mutual interest in research and development in education and recognising the importance of international partnership, the Department of Education Studies has formalised its collaboration with the Graduate School of Education at Hiroshima University, Japan.
The two universities will join hands to explore avenues for collaboration in promoting joint research projects and the exchange of academic output, staff and student exchange, provision of mutual support for developing new programmes and organising academic and educational activities.
A signing ceremony was held at the Graduate School of Education of Hiroshima University. Participants included HKBU’s Head of the Department of Education Studies Professor Atara Sivan, Associate Heads Professor Vicky Tam and Dr Raymond Chan, Hiroshima University’s Dean of the Graduate School of Education Professor Masataka Koyama, Vice Deans Professor Norio Matsumi and Professor Takaharu Yamamoto, and Director of the Centre for School Education Research and Development Professor Kurihara Shinji.
Following the ceremony, members of the two universities held their first meeting and discussed a proposal to hold the first joint symposium on education at HKBU in 2018 with the tentative theme of “Supporting student development: Experiences drawn from Hong Kong and Japan”.
