PERM Student won Silver and Bronze Medals at International Para-badminton Competition
Mr. Daniel Chan (Year 1, Physical Education and Recreation Management) won a silver and a bronze medal in the singles and doubles events respectively at the international para-badminton competition held in Thailand.
Daniel is studying at HKBU under the Elite Athletes Admission Scheme, launched in 2016 to help selected athletes pursue degree programmes at the University. He said that para-badminton is only a semi-professional sport in Hong Kong, and he used to worry about having to work, study and train at the same time while under financial and time pressures. However despite this challenging environment, after one year Daniel has performed very well, not only continuing his studies but also increasing his training time, which has improved his skills significantly. Daniel is particularly pleased that his achievement demonstrates that his abilities are comparable to those of professional players around the globe.
