Daniel Chan (Physical Education and Recreation Management, Year 2) clinched a silver medal in the men’s singles and a bronze in the doubles in the wheelchair category of the Japan Para-Badminton Open 2017.

Daniel was satisfied with the result as there were 22 competitors, six of them full-time athletes. Daniel entered the competition in his capacity as student and still managed to perform well, maintaining second place in the world ranking. Daniel thought this result was satisfactory and he is now devoting himself to new targets—the Tokyo Paralympic Games in 2020 and fighting for the top rank in the world.

Besides the lecturers of the Department of Physical Education, Daniel would like to thank his classmates: “I sometimes have to skip lessons in order to take part in various competitions; my classmates always help me take notes. During courses on sport technique, in areas such as gymnasium, swimming, dancing, my teachers and classmates are always on hand to offer their kind assistance. Without their support, learning would be a big problem for me.”
