Distinguished Academia Sinica Research Fellow discusses on intellectual history
The Department of History presented the second Ruby Lecture on 18 September. Professor Wang Fan-seng, Distinguished Research Fellow and former Vice-President of Academia Sinica in Taiwan, shared on the conceptualisation of intellectual history in the light of the various schools developed in Western academia. The lecture attracted a full house audience of over 270.
Professor Wang revisited various theories in the field and discussed the contribution of scholars in subfields such as conceptual history, the history of ideas, the history of mentalities, and especially the influential Cambridge school advocating the history of political thought.
