Department of Education Studies launches new teacher’s manual in workshop for principals and teachers
The Department of Education Studies recently held a workshop on “Promoting Positive Youth Development through School-University-Elderly Learning Community” for school principals and teachers.
During the occasion, a teacher’s manual was also launched to provide practical suggestions on how secondary schools can run similar programmes for students.
The project was funded by the Quality Education Fund (QEF) and led by Professor Atara Sivan, Head of the Department, and Professor Vicky Tam, Associate Head of the Department.
The workshop was officiated by Chairman of QEF Steering Committee Dr Gordon Tsui, HKBU President Professor Roland Chin, and Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences Professor Adrian Bailey. Professor Sivan said the project aligns beautifully with the University’s vision and strategy. At the University level, it goes hand-in-hand with the Creative Media and Practice research cluster, while at the faculty level, the project aligns closely with the Smart Societies research area, and in particular learning, practice and well-being. The project also echoes the Department’s vision of an inclusive learning community, which is at the core of what it hopes to achieve.
