Inauguration Meeting of the Research Group in Migration, China, and the Global Context

The Research Group in Migration, China, and the Global Context under the collaboration between our Faculty and the Max Weber Foundation, Germany held its inaugural meeting on 29 May 2015 in HKBU Kowloon Tong campus.  Prof. Rick Wong, Vice-President (Research & Development) opened the meeting by extending a warmest welcome to Prof. Hans van Ess (President, Max Weber Foundation), Dr. Harald Rosenbach (Chief Executive Director, Max Weber Foundation), Prof. Sabine Dabringhuas (Professor, University of Freiburg), Prof. Franz Waldenberger (Director, German Institute for Japanese Studies Tokyo), Mr Joachim Roehr (Administrative Director, German Institute for Japanese Studies Tokyo).  He also congratulated the Faculty in the effort of building such an important partnership with Germany.

Taking this great opportunity, Prof. Adrian J. Bailey, Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences, thanked the tremendous support from the Max Weber Foundation which made the collaboration possible.  He also introduced the following key members in the research group:

The three research group members were invited to present their research plan and work progress in the subsequent meeting.  Prof. Hans van Ess was impressed with their presentations. He believes that with the guidance and supervision of the group leaders as well as HKBU PhD supervisors, the collaboration would contribute the development of academic knowledge across Europe and Asia, humanities and social sciences.
