Cooperation Protocol with Jinan University
On 19 December 2016, the Advanced Institute for Contemporary China Studies (ACCS) and Institute of Hong Kong, Macao & SEZs Economy, Jinan University signed a cooperation protocol to strengthen academic exchange and collaboration between the two institutes in the area of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao-Taiwan cooperation and development. Both sides will co-organise seminars and conferences such as the International Conference on the 20th Anniversary of Hong Kong Reunification which will be held in Guangzhou in June 2017; promote scholars and students exchange and visit; and jointly apply for the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSF) and/or NSF-RGC Joint Research Scheme, and projects commissioned by the local governments.
Prof. Mak King Sang, Director and Dr. Karen Xu, Assistant Director of ACCS, Prof. Liu Jinshan, Associate Dean of the College of Economics, Jinan University, Prof. Feng Bangyan, former Dean of the College of Economics, Dr. Zhong Yun, Director and Dr. Xie Baojian and Dr. Wang Peng, Associate Directors of the Institute of Hong Kong, Macao & SEZs Economy attended the signing ceremony.
After the signing ceremony, the 2nd seminar of the series of 20th Anniversary of Hong Kong's returing to the Mainland China began. Prof. Mak delivered a lecture entitled "From Post-War to 1967: The Relationship between Hong Kong and the Mainland: Review and Prospect". Prof. Feng Bangyan from the Institute of Hong Kong, Macao and SEZs Economy gave a lecture entitled "Cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao on the Construction of the Financial Center in the Greater Pearl Delta River Region".
Over 60 postgraduate students from the College of Economics of Jinan University attended the seminar and joined the discussion with the professors.
