優質教育基金研究項目提倡 中學 ─ 大學 - 老年的正向青年發展
More than 100 students and teachers from eight secondary schools were welcomed by HKBU students and staff to mark another successful milestone of a learning community project. This event marked the beginning of a second action learning cycle of the project: “Promoting Positive Youth Development through School-University-Elderly”. Funded by the Quality Education Fund (QEF) and led by Prof. Atara Sivan (Head) and Prof. Vicky Tam (Associate Head), Department of Education Studies, the project aims at enhancing positive youth development through shared engagement in issues of healthy living and well-being and active participation in a tri-party intergenerational learning community.
Serving as mentors to the secondary school students in this project, enthusiastic Social Sciences students, and their fellow and international students from other Faculties played a significant role in conducting a series of mini-workshops for the youngsters. The project team and representatives of the participating elderly community centres induced to students about the action learning principles and working with older adults. The event ended with a heart warming sharing by HKBU and secondary school students about their learning experience with older adults and their aspiration to continue their community engagement and knowledge transfer activities.
