Centre for the Advancement of Social Sciences Research

The Centre for the Advancement of Social Sciences Research (CASR) was set up on 25 August 2010 after restructuring of the School Administration and Management System Training and Research Unit established in 1995. The CASR aims to engender inter-departmental collaboration, synergize new inter-disciplinary research within and outside the Faculty, and facilitate knowledge transfer from the University to the wider community.

The Centre was set up with the mission to enhance the quality of life for elderly and people with disability through engaging them in quality wellness programs.  We design and provide quality wellness educational programmes and activities, such as Inclusive Physical Activity, to diverse populations for building a harmonious and inclusive community.

Centre for Trauma Treatment and Well-being

There has been a growing interest in the use of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in the Asian region, and this centre provides an excellent synergy by bringing together researchers and practitioners who could contribute to the well-being of the population and to the academic field of knowledge.  It provides training for practitioners to undertake EMDR, impart knowledge of EMDR to inform the general public about EMDR and how to access EMDR professionals for support, and conduct clinical and educational research about the use of EMDR within the Chinese context.

The Social Work Practice and Mental Health Centre (SWPMHC) is established to advance service, to develop internationalization of social work, mental health and caregiving training in Hong Kong and Mainland. It serves as a hub for academic exchanges and collaborations in research of scholars, students and social work practitioners from Mainland, Hong Kong and overseas.
