Education Department's Dr. Benjamin MOORHOUSE Selected as UGC Teaching Award Finalist

The Faculty is delighted to announce that Dr. Benjamin MOORHOUSE, Assistant Professor in the Department of Education Studies, has been chosen as one of the two finalists for the general faculty member category of the UGC Teaching Award.


This annual award aims to honor exceptional teaching in the UGC sector, recognizing teaching performance and achievements and leadership in teaching and scholarly contributions to the field.


The selection process for the UGC Teaching Award is based on three key criteria:

  • Adoption of learner-centered approaches, ability to engage, inspire, and positively impact students, and demonstrated excellence in teaching acumen.
  • Course, program, and curriculum design that reflects mastery of the subject matter.
  • Past and present achievements, leadership in teaching, and potential scholarly contributions to effective teaching practices within their university and beyond.


Dr. Moorhouse's previous accolades include the HKBU President's Award for Outstanding Performance in Individual Teaching 2023, the Early Career Teaching Award 2019 from HKU, and as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
