The Department of Education Studies (EDUC) launched an exchange programme with the School of Education, Sun Yat-Sen University (SYSU) from 30 July to 1 August 2015. The programme was supported by funding from the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.
During the exchange period, 25 EDUC students, and academic and administrative staff members visited SYSU’s Guangzhou South Campus and Affiliated Middle School. They took part in a series of four lectures on various educational themes conducted by Prof. Ma Hing Keung and Dr. Peter Huang, EDUC, and Prof. Feng Zengjun and Prof. QU Qiongfei, Associate Dean, School of Education of SYSU. These lectures were also attended by over 200 SYSU Master of Education students who were primary and secondary school teachers in Guangdong. On the final day of the programme, students from the two universities participated in a forum on teaching and learning with presentations and discussion. Student learning was further enhanced through two briefing and sharing sessions held before and after the programme. Reflections of participating students and staff will be compiled into a monograph.
