HKBU hosts workshop to discuss big data for urban and transport analysis

Participants discuss the challenges in big data analytics for urban research

HKBU’s Department of Computer Science and the Centre for China Urban and Regional Studies (CURS) co-organised the “Workshop on Urban and Transport Analytics” on 13 March.
The interdisciplinary workshop provided a forum for discussing the opportunities and challenges in the analysis of big data for urban and transportation research among colleagues from different academic backgrounds including geography, urban planning, civil engineering and computer sciences. 
Professor Liu Jiming, Associate Vice-President (Research) delivered an opening remark. A total of 15 presentations in the workshop stimulated heated debates on the state-of-the-art and future developments in transport analytics, environmental and health analytics, as well as the techniques and algorithms in data science, and so on.
The Workshop attracted almost 40 speakers and participants including scholars, practitioners, and research students from Wuhan University, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, The University of Hong Kong, and PingAn Technology.
