Applicants may be required to attend an interview as part of the selection process. Students may be provisionally accepted at the time of application, but they should have their full-time secondary school teacher status confirmed before registration for the programme. Applicants applying for Chinese or English courses may be required to sit for a language proficiency test. * Applicants applying for Physical Education must hold a recognized bachelor's degree or equivalent majoring in PE or a relevant discipline. ** Applicants who do not have a full-time secondary school teacher status will be considered on a case-by-case basis and, if admitted, have to fulfill teaching practice requirements stipulated by the Department. |

Descriptions | : | The Faculty of Social Sciences and David C. Lam Institute for East-West Studies in Hong Kong will launch the first MA in Global Society programme in Hong Kong this September. With its unique whole person positioning, the MA equips emerging leaders to understand how the challenges and opportunities of connected society are multi-dimensional - social, cultural, economic, political, and environmental. One of the characteristics of the programme is that it offers five concentrations: 1) Global Urban System; 2) Global Cultures; 3) Global Environmental Health; 4) Global Social Development; and 5) Global Political Economy. Students will be able to specialize and build vocational knowledge and skills by selecting one from five concentrations. Graduates will be able to pursue and enhance their careers in such fields as: urban, housing, land-use, and transport planning; cultural and leisure industries; environmental health research, consulting, and management; social, educational, community, and international development; politics, government, and leadership in civil society. The programme will also be suitable for those wishing to pursue further academic development in Ph.D. programmes. |
