Find your direction in the exchange journey

First of all, I am gratified and honored to receive the Social Sciences Scholarship for Global Exchange AY2021/22. Thank you for the generous support from the Faculty of Social Science. As a well-wounded student, I am determined to explore various opportunities to broaden my perspectives and discover my potential during my four-year university life. I am thrilled to be an exchange student at Shanghai Jiao Tong University this year. It was a memorable experience for me and defined my direction of future career path.

As a year-four student, like my fellow schoolmates, I sometimes feel mixed up about my future career, especially when studying a subject that does not arouse my interest. Unfortunately, the journey of my university is coming to an end. Therefore, I decided to capture my last opportunity to explore the possibility of myself. Instead of studying the economic-related subjects, it is valiant for me to enroll in cultural and art-based courses during the exchange period, which I am interested in but do not dare to approach.

Forrest Gump stated, "Life was like a box of chocolates in the movie. You never know what you're gonna get".We should not deny all the alternatives in our lives and be brave enough to embrace them. Therefore, I studied Indian cultures, Buddhism, and Aesthetics during the exchange period, and I firmly believe I am passionate about the corresponding fields. All in all, rather than blindly following the blueprint designed by the majority in society, what I suggest is listening to your heart and pursuing your own goals and dreams. Also, never underestimate yourselves, as everyone is unique in their way.
